Fur Cleaning
Your valuable furs should be cleaned
and glazed every year. This elaborate process cleans,
reconditions, and restores the luster to your fur garment.
Even if you only wear your fur a few times a season your
garment needs this process to prolong its wearing life.
Regular cleaning will restore the natural oils that everyday
pollutants, such as perfume, makeup, hair products, and
dust, can remove. These substances must be removed
or they will cause your fur to become dry and unrepairable.
Burtrum Furs has its own in house
cleaning plant located at the flint location. Our
fur cleaning associates have been in the industry over 25 years and
our the best in the industry. Your fur will never be shipped
to an outside location for cleaning. First our expert
cleaners examine each coat to make sure it can go in
the cleaning drums. Next silk linings are hand cleaned
before the fur is placed into the wooden drums with saw dust
which is made out of corn cob or glass and solvent mixture.
After your coat has been gently tumbled on both sides of the drums
it is steamed and blown for extra sawdust to be removed.
Finally, your coat can go through the glazing process which
restores shine and fluffs the hair.
When your fur has gone through
the entire cleaning process it is removed from the cleaning plant
and taken to our seamstress. The seamstress than checks your
fur for loose lining, missing hooks, and any repairs, this is all
included at no charge to you. Finally, we steam
your fur, linings include, before our storage manager
checks your coat over one last time and places it in the
vaults.
